Hey there, it’s Dennis.

In today’s issue:

  • Why year-end reflection usually turns into self-criticism and how to stop that cycle

  • The Year-End Tiger Check I use to close one chapter before opening the next

  • How to honor what went right and learn from what didn’t without beating yourself up

  • A simple H.E.A.R.T-based framework to step into the new year with clarity, intention, and resolve

Year-End Tiger Check

As I pause with just a few hours left in 2025, I reflect on the year that has been and all of the wonderful experiences which I enjoyed. Yes, I also reflect on those experiences that were not so wonderful, yet, were critically important for me to continue to grow into the person that I am becoming as I move steadily down my path.

This process of reflection on any time period which has passed can be a challenge to complete in a positive, grounded, growth-focused manner. It is an area where we can quickly focus only on what we wanted to accomplish and how we have failed to truly accomplish all that we have set out to do.

In other words, it becomes an exercise in listing only our failures, with the end result of making us feel like shit about ourselves and our ability to do anything.

Of course, there is an aspect of self-reflection where we must consider those areas that did not go as planned. My point is this: you cannot make failure your sole focus. Reflection must be balanced and must start with the positive.

Make the transition this year different and use the same process that I use for your Year-End Tiger Check.

Pause Before You Push Forward

Pause before you push forward. The starting point is to reflect on and honor the year we are completing. This is essential so that you can shift from reactive goal-setting to purpose-based creation.

As you begin the process, please ensure that you are in a quiet space where you feel safe to close your eyes and where you will have a period of uninterrupted time.

Reflection is a conscious choice. It requires a calmed and focused mind–body connection.

🐯H.E.A.R.T. OF THE TIGER — YEAR-END REFLECTION

H — Honor Your Truth

  • What do I want to celebrate from this year?

  • Where did I grow stronger and more self-aware?

  • Where did I invest my time?

  • Where did I show up fully?

  • What needs to be acknowledged, accepted, and forgiven?

E — Envision Your Future

  • What is the dream you want to manifest in the coming year?

  • Who will you have to become to make it real?

  • What beliefs and values must you model every day?

  • Where must you invest your time?

  • What will attaining your dream feel like?

A — Activate Awareness

  • What patterns show up over and over again?

  • What stressors and triggers consistently pulled you from your path?

  • How did your body signal misalignment to you?

  • When did you heed your body, and when did you push through?

  • What awareness must you carry forward into this next year?

R — Rise With Resolve

  • What standards are you ready to establish and uphold?

  • What boundaries will protect your time, space, and self?

  • What support structures will make success attainable?

  • How will you return to your path when you stray?

  • What will remind you of who you are becoming?

T — Turn Power Into Practice

  • What will be your daily habits to live your dream?

  • How will you recalibrate when the unexpected arises?

  • How will you measure your success?

  • How will you celebrate your wins each day, week, and month?

  • How will you act as your future self now?

Closing Declaration

The year of the Fire Horse awaits you. Step boldly and confidently into it with clarity around who you are now, how you choose to live, and the dream you are committed to manifesting.

Read this statement out loud to yourself and consider it your first journal prompt of 2026:

“I enter the year of the Fire Horse grounded in truth, clear in vision, aware in action, and steady in my resolve. I lead my life with the H.E.A.R.T. of the Tiger.”

If You’re Stuck at the Reflection Stage

Many people do this exercise…
and then quietly drift back into old patterns by February.

If you want support turning clarity into consistent action, this is exactly the work I do in 1:1 Tiger Coaching.

You don’t need more motivation. You need alignment, accountability, and a path forward that fits your life.

Quote of The Week:

“Gratitude turns what we have into enough.” — Anonymous

Have you ever noticed that voice that reverberates in your head the minute you consider a new experience or an action to make your dreams a reality? The one that seems to whisper “You’re not ready” or shouts “What if you fail?”

That is the Tiger that I refer to and the idea of creating the metaphor for the Tiger came from Jim Lawless in his book, Taming Tigers.

It’s fear and self-doubt dressed up as protection, convincing us to stay safe instead of stepping forward and growing. The Tiger is loud, convincing and relentless, but here’s the truth: it only has the power we give it.

Every time you step forward in spite of that roar, you weaken its grip and strengthen your own. That is what Tiger Letters are all about, sharing knowledge, experience, fears and inner strength to make your dreams a reality.

So, the next time your Tiger ROARS, smile at it, step forward reclaiming your power and break through the fear barrier into your growth zone.

Before you go, here is ONE way you can work with me.
